Cloth is a natural material for doll making because it is not only workable, but soft and comforting to the touch. Indeed many dolls whose heads are made of china, composition, or bisque are equipped with cloth bodies just to make them pleasant to hug. The cloth dolls in the Museum's collection range in design from simple pillow-like constructions to complex sculptural works.
